The power of perceptions

Perceptions are a funny thing. I love it when i think something is one way then i find out it's another. Sometimes its not me making a judgement but something is presented in a way that leads me to perceive it differently. Life is full of examples of this and it happens all the time.

Here is my painting of Aaron Paul i did as part of my Awesome People series. AKA: Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad. I loved that show and Aaron was so incredible i had to paint him! I took the photo late at night with fading light, not really thinking. I was so excited to have finished it! But i realized the next day how much the photo sucked! I was tired......

It's amazing how different something is in good light or the next morning. This is a great visual reminder for myself and hopefully to you to not judge a book by its cover. To Not make assumptions....they are usually wrong anyways.( Here is a great link to quotes on assumptions.) and to give yourself breathing room to make judgement calls in a good headspace.

I know when im in a good headspace my perceptions are very different than when im not....even if im just tired, the light im shining on someone can be so different. Just like these photos...cheesy but true. :) If you find yourself being a Negative Nelly step back. Go back to basics, get your basic needs met and start fresh. Sometimes its that simple to put fresh positive eyes back in our life. Here's a link to 10 Rules to Live by as a reminder. I know i look at it regularly to make sure im staying on track. The world is busy...stay calm! Stick to the basics and give your perceptions a chance to be correct more often...
