On the 6th I posted Tweaks of Life. Tweaks I was going to make to my life to see if they would improve my physical and mental world and get my life back to the simpler lifestyle I love so much. Here is an update of those tweaks.
First thing I was going to post to my blog once a week. I didn't specify what day and I did this because sometimes being too specific in the beginning of creating a new habit feels too restrictive and then I drop the ball. So I left it open. I have since posted every week. This has helped me focus on my goals and the act of writing things down, not just to myself but to my readers, you, and has helped me let go of second guessing or doubting. A wonderful side effect.
Two. The second tweak I made was having 20grams of protein once I wake up and after a litre of lemon water. The lemon water is a no brainer. I've been doing that for a year now and can't say enough of how important that is for alkalizing the body first thing in the morning. But.....I can honestly say I don't really like this routine of protein before coffee.....I do like the benefits from it, stable blood sugar and more productivity with my brain, but physically its not that enjoyable. So.....I'm having my coffee first but I've changed the protein shake to right after my coffee, about 40 minutes. So far this is having the same physical and mental effects but giving me that enjoyment of having my coffee on an empty stomach. For reasons unknown to me I prefer this.....so be it!! If there are any other changes to this routine I'll let you now but so far so good.
Three. I'm only painting a substantial painting or WOW painting as I called it, every two weeks or so. Doing sketches or practice drawings etc. in preparation. The result is two fold. This is working! I love researching ideas and ways to improve my painting life, practice drawings or smaller paintings sketches etc. So that part of the life tweak has been successful. The part that isn't working is that I need a goal.....I'm a very goal oriented person so just painting without planning for a specific outcome isn't motivating enough for me. I love painting but what I have learned over the past few years is that the act of painting isn't enough for me. I need connection, I need goals and I need to reach them.....so I've added some goals.
After painting three more portraits I'm going to start the process of looking for a Gallery that wants a Portrait Artist. That will give me 6 paintings to showcase for a larger body of work. It's kinda weird at this point because I'm known as an abstract artist.....so this will be interesting and I will definitely keep you updated on that process. The other goal is to have one new person for the Awesome People Movement a month. This is very exciting! The site is done and I'm ready to go! Now all I need is content and people. I'm working on the existing interviews right now and have to figure out how to get the podcasts together etc....all technical work. But thats just grunt work that can be done and figured out over the next few weeks. The real challenge is getting the word out and building awesomeness!!! if you haven't checked out the site yet here it is. AwesomePeopleMovement.com This movement has the potential to for greatness. The global interconnectedness that we have at our fingertips is inspiring! Check out the site and let me know if you or someone you know may wanna participate.....
Well that's it for my tweaks so far. Now back to work and laying the foundation down for more productivity, more relaxation more learning and more awesomeness!
